Our History
Aurik was born in 2002 from a genesis of starting, investing and building small businesses into medium sized business and then selling them. With over 22 such initiatives behind us, we have developed not only a passion for SME development but a complete understanding of the process.
What kind of idea can become a business? How do you start-up the business in a competitive environment with few resources? How do you get the right people to help you? How do you deal with your own psychology in the process? How do you stabilise the business and grow it without it falling over? How do you keep going and going when you are completely depleted of energy? How do you sell the business and do so well? The lifecycle of entrepreneurship, all its joys and disappointments, its victories and failures are things that we as Aurik have directly lived through 22 times and assessed or facilitated on 143 times!

Combining this direct experience and determined to make a difference by building South Africa into a constantly better nation through doing what we know best, developing and building entrepreneurial businesses, Aurik does what it does today. This ethos underpins our value system, our thinking and our obsession. We firmly believe that entrepreneurship is a vital key to a successful South Africa and as such, it has to succeed. People must become entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs must start businesses, businesses must succeed. Entrepreneurs must sell their businesses well and be successful. Through all points in this lifecycle, points that we have lived through by direct experience, Aurik can and will support you and your organisation.
Our DNA
Our approach has been developed from the direct experience of 22 start-up and turnaround businesses and 15 years of venture capital experience, during which we have assessed or facilitated more than 143 businesses and have identified 154 key business risks that impact on South African businesses during their first 5 years. Our approach focuses on enabling entrepreneurs to systematically manage and gain control over their business. The outcome is improved overall business performance.
Our Brand
Aurik means a trivalent gold compound. Trivalency is the combination of three things to create gold. Gold is the symbol of value and what South Africa’s existence has been built on. We combine people, ideas and action to create value. It is this value that will grow and push entrepreneurs to succeed and flourish.
