Staff Member Profiles
Carien embarked on her entrepreneurial career by bringing her corporate and public service to bear on entrepreneurial ventures that needed strategy and corporatisation development for growth and in some cases, preparation for sale or investment.
Her corporate experience with Raphaely-Weiner Attorneys (now Fluxmans), Bezuidenhout van Zyl Incorporated and EFK Tucker Incorporated led to her being invited to join government as part of the first Strategic Management Team for the Department of Development Planning, Environment and Works in 1994. As Chief Director in the Department of Housing and Land Affairs, Carien was responsible for the overall design and implementation of several multi-million rand programmes the Mayibuye Programme (focused on land release and informal settlement upgrading) and the Alexandra Renewal Project.
Today as a Director and co-founder of Aurik, the complex programme management capability that Carien developed during this time is put directly to good use in scoping, managing and driving progress in all enterprise development programmes with Aurik clients and specifically in building and bedding down systems in fast growth entrepreneurial businesses.
Carien holds a B. Proc in Law, a Postgraduate Diploma in Policy and Management and a Masters in Business Administration (WITS).
