Dish Food and Social
Cape Town’s own version of ‘Eat, Pray, Love’
It takes a special person who is prepared to cater for launches, parties and dinners that vary from intimate settings to massive corporate events. Andrea Foulkes is just that person, and her company, Dish Food and Social is built on a passion for food, a love of people and a genuine enjoyment of parties.
Catering for everything from personal dinners and children’s parties to huge events like the Loerie Awards, she offers the option of having chefs on-site or delivering ready-to-serve food. Andrea has also recently introduced Dish Food Market, an online food shop that offers favourite ingredients and must-have kitchen items. And she has a tiny bistro in the Bo-Kaap – Sidedish, and a take home meal offering – Gourmet Garage.
While she thrives on the idea of making people happy and believes that the love that goes into the preparation of a meal definitely shows up in the end result, she needs assistance in smoothing out the cash flow and profitability cycle. Access to additional corporate event catering and equipment, as well as help with the online operations of Food Market would also not go amiss.
Since her current base of operations is too small, and cooking under the stars is not an option, Andrea hopes to buy a building that will serve as her headquarters and, in keeping with the eco-friendly times, she also wants to get organic farmers on board as suppliers.
