Enbaya Prepaid Meters

Taking the cost out of prepaid utilities

Since the price of electricity skyrocketed, people have begun seeking more effective ways of controlling their household electricity costs. This has led to an exponential rise in the number of people installing prepaid meters, which in turn has broadened the smile on the face of Sean Wheller, owner of Enbaya Prepaid Meters.

He says that the main reason many people do not yet have access to prepaid meters is simply because many municipalities can’t afford the software and prepayment technology. However, not only does Enbaya offer a hosted model and supported vending model (ASP) for such municipalities, the company also provides a platform that can deliver prepayment services for all utilities, whether electricity, water or gas.

In addition, says Sean, the system is manufacturer agnostic, so any meter from any manufacturer can be placed on the system, which is Linux-based, removing the need for licences. The system can also integrate to municipalities’ ERP and accounting systems, while Enbaya is solely responsible for primary and first line of support, meaning problems are quickly sorted out.

However, Sean says that the company could really use assistance in developing a website that offers a user-friendly experience for customers; a partnership to assist with access to municipalities;  and resellers – such as electrical contractors and estate agents – who can also help educate the market about the benefits of prepaid metering.
