Eyeballs Mobile Advertising

Getting Eyeball to Eyeball with targeted mobile advertising

Most organisations would give their eyeballs to have an advertising solution that targets recipients by location, gender, age and interests – and does so at the recipient’s request! Nathan Lewin says that his company, Eyeballs Mobile Advertising, uses a mobile advertising distribution system through which it rewards people for seeing graphical adverts and adding ‘bling’ to their mobile phones.

The key to the solution’s success is that the ad distribution system is an exclusively opt-in offering. This means that since everyone who sees an ad distributed by Eyeballs has asked to see it, it provides a massively better return on investment for the advertiser in comparison to SMS or MMS-based services.

Nathan also points out that MobiZAR, his distributor, is now providing an opportunity for corporate social investment, as the rewards generated by subscribers seeing ads can now be passed on to charities, instead of just used for ‘bling’ purposes. Should the company match the existing 78 000 installations, they will be able to donate more than R400 000 per month to a variety of needy sources.

What is key, says Nathan, is for Eyeballs to gain access to government institutions like SARS, to demonstrate how it can use this to communicate with the public. Additionally, he needs help in translating the product to help advertisers understand this new media platform better, while he would also like to meet entrepreneurs who can use the platform to help build their businesses.
