It’s not strange fruit, it’s Funky Bananas!
It may sound crazy, but it’s true – for busy parents, the answer to providing the best party ever for your child is Funky Bananas. No that’s not some strange kind of party fruit, it’s a one-stop party shop created by Riaan and Hester Geers in Parklands.
Focused specifically on the children’s party market, Funky Bananas delivers a high quality product at a reasonable price, supported by service excellence. Parties catering for children from 1 – 6 is the key market, although the company will arrange parties for children up to the age of 11.
By offering a range of products, styles and themes, the company covers every aspect of a great party. Whether it is balloons, themed plates, hats and table covers, novelty toys, party packs or cakes, they can do it. Funky Bananas also specialises in the rental of equipment – this includes tables, chairs, candyfloss and popcorn machines, bouncing castles and much more.
Riaan and Hester say that the fantastic response to the initial Funky Bananas store led to a second one being opened in Durbanville. Now their goal is to launch Funky Bananas as a franchise on a national scale. However, to do so, they require legal advice around franchising agreements and mentorship on how to design that aspect of the business.    They would also like to light up the lives of less fortunate children by finding sponsors for parties at orphanages.
