Kurus English puts language into action
There is no doubt that the best way to learn a language is through total immersion. Clearly, placing yourself in the environments and cultures where your chosen new taal is spoken will quickly improve your ability. Just look at Charlize Theron.
Johannes Kraus realised this when setting up his English language school, Kurus English, in 2008. His unique solution takes advantage of the spectacular beauty and heritage that the city of Cape Town has to offer, making use of Language Excursions.
These enable both local and overseas students keen on learning a second or third language to experience the “four seasons in a day” beauty of the Cape while conversing with locals about crayfish, Clifton and Cape Talk. However, there is no truth in the rumour that he has had to repeatedly explain that the term “dis mos lekker snoek” is not English at all!
The Kurus English ‘Language in Action’ programme is both exciting and fun and it provides insight into one of the most important global languages through a set of socially and culturally diverse learning opportunities.
Of course, this is a competitive environment, so Johan says that he would welcome assistance in connecting with more corporates as well as inbound tour operators. He is also interested in product development for new audiences. Finally, an introduction to possible investors who can see the potential in expanding this concept would also be welcomed.
