MSR (Men on the Side of the Road)

Nothing casual about MSR’s approach to labour

Many people have need of casual labourers, but are wary of hiring someone who is standing on the pavement looking for work. This is why Men on the Side of the Road (MSR) exists – to provide an umbrella body that offers security to both the worker and the employer.

Run by Peter Kratz, who has more than 15 years experience in the development space, MSR, a non-profit organisation, provides customers with registered MSR members who are ready to work and provide the labour the customer requires. This ensures that the employers obtain relevant skills, while the workers have an effective and credible means of interacting with the broader marketplace.

While the concept of MSR is a strong one, Peter says he needs help in developing a genuinely sustainable funding model. In addition he is calling on the broader public to think about MSR’s service, change their perceptions and give his beneficiaries a chance.    If it goes wrong challenge him on air!

So, when you next do a small job, use an MSR member and you will be giving someone an opportunity to earn, up-skill and contribute to the economy.
